How much. So that is the part we handle before anything else. We walk the house with you, room by room, and you point at what has been bothering you: the shower door, the baseboards, the ceiling fans nobody has touched since the last monsoon. Then you get the number. Nothing gets opened and nothing gets moved until you have heard it and said yes, and it does not change later because the job ran long.

After that it is quiet. Kitchens and bathrooms take the longest, because that is where the difference actually shows up. Floors go last so nothing walks back across them. We bring everything, vacuum and cloths and mop and product. You do not need anything under your sink.

Stay or go, either is fine. Some people sit at the kitchen table with a laptop the whole time. Others open the door, say hello and head to work. Expect the first visit to run longer than the ones after it. A house that has never been done is a different job than the same house six weeks later.

Most of it is houses, and the people who call are usually the ones whose time costs more than the money. Someone who runs a business all day and walks in at seven to a house that has been waiting on them. Two parents working, small kids, and the weekend already spoken for. People who retired up here, kept the big house on purpose, and have decided they are done going up a ladder over the stairwell.

Working from home helps less than people expect. We clean for plenty of folks in Granville, Viewpoint and Pronghorn Ranch who are inside that house all day long and still never get to the baseboards, because the day fills itself.

The rest is the work nobody pictures when they hear the word cleaning. Offices and professional suites. Retail floors. Dealerships, where the showroom has to look untouched before the doors open. Apartments and buildings for property managers, between one tenant and the next. Move-outs, where the place has to look like nobody ever lived there. Short-term rentals in Sedona that get reset between a Sunday checkout and a Monday check-in. And construction, from the rough stage with the trades still working, through the final clean before anyone walks it, to the touch-ups after.

The old houses in Prescott are their own category. The woodwork on the historic streets around Mount Vernon takes an afternoon by itself, and it should not be done with a paper towel and whatever is under the sink.

We would rather see it the way it actually is. That is the visit that tells us what you need: which room gets lived in, where the dog sleeps, which corner has been irritating you since last year. A house that has been staged for us teaches us nothing.

The next thing that stops people is thinking they are signing up for something. You are not. One visit is a complete answer. Some people have us out once before the family arrives for the holidays and we do not hear from them again until spring. Others go every two weeks and stop thinking about it. Weekly, every two weeks, monthly, once. None of it is a contract.

Then there is the money, which is the part nobody says out loud. It starts at $120 a visit, and you hear your own number before we begin. It does not move because the job took longer than we guessed. That is our problem, not yours. And if you look at something afterward and it is not right, say so. We come back and do it again at no cost.

What we spray when juniper season hits

February and March up here belong to the juniper.

That is when the calls start about dust. Pollen on the sills, on the blinds, on every dark surface in the house, and the windows have been shut since November. Which is exactly why nobody needs a cleaner who walks in and leaves the place smelling like bleach for the rest of the day.

We clean with eco-friendly products. It matters most where there is a baby on the floor, somebody with asthma, or an older person home all day with the house closed up. Nothing hangs in the air after we go.

Pets are never a problem, and you do not have to shut them away on our account. Tell us if the cat makes a break for the door, or if the dog cannot deal with the vacuum, and we work around it. Hair on the stairs and on the couch is a normal Tuesday.

Carpet and upholstery earn their own service in this part of Arizona. In winter the town lays cinders and de-icer on the hills and the intersections, and every bit of it comes in on shoes. Out in Chino Valley plenty of driveways are still dirt, and the carpet knows it.

Summer is the other half. July afternoons only run in the high eighties here, about thirty degrees under Phoenix, so windows stay open and the outside comes in with them. Then the monsoon starts and it is mud on the mat every afternoon for weeks. And red dirt off the Sedona trails does not vacuum out. It has to be pulled out.

Saturdays, Sedona days, and paying

Monday through Saturday, eight in the morning until six at night.

Saturday is the one people forget to ask about. If nobody can be in the house during the work week, that is what it is there for.

Prescott Valley, Prescott, Chino Valley and Sedona. Sedona is a real drive from here, so those days get planned instead of squeezed onto the end of a route. Worth asking early.

Cash, Zelle or a check. No app to download, nothing kept on file, nothing to set up. And English or Spanish, whichever is easier. If it is faster to tell us in Spanish what you want done, do that.

And it does not have to be the whole house. Sometimes it is the kitchen, taken all the way down, and nothing else. That is a fine thing to ask for.
