Cleaning a home in Highlands Ranch
Highlands Ranch was built to a plan, and the plan put open space at the back of a great many houses. Dry prairie grass runs right up to the fence line, and it seeds through late summer into fall. Dogs go out into it and come back with the seed heads and burrs in their coats, and the wind that crosses that open ground carries the same dry grit onto patios and windows.
The back door is where the work is. Grass seed and burrs drop off wherever the dog lies down, so beds, rugs and the strip of floor inside the patio door get gone over first. A vacuum picks the seeds up; a broom throws them. Patio glass and the sills on the open-space side need doing more often than the street side, and the door track fills with fine grit that gets lifted out rather than mopped over.
