Rough Construction Clean

• Scrap lumber, drywall offcuts and packaging carried out of the building
• Nails, screws and wire clippings picked up off the floors
• Drywall dust swept or shoveled off the bare subfloor
• Stairs, doorways and walkways cleared so the next trade can work
• Plastic sheeting, dust barriers and masking pulled down and carried out
• Debris moved to the dumpster on site and sorted if required

• Anything that looks like finish work. Glass, fixtures and floors are left for the final clean, because the trades still coming through will dirty them again.
• Deciding what is trash. Materials and tools that belong to a trade stay where they are unless someone on site says to move them.
• Hauling debris away from the property. With no dumpster on site, disposal is normally quoted on its own.

• No dumpster on site, so every load gets carried further and then taken away.
• Stairs and upper floors with no lift, since everything comes down by hand.
• Heavy debris like tile, mortar or concrete, which costs more to get rid of than wood and cardboard.
• Other trades still working in the building, so rooms get done around them or revisited.

It runs on the volume of debris, not on the square footage, so a small floor with a heavy pile can take longer than a big one that is nearly clear. It is often booked more than once on the same build, and the pass after the drywall sanding is the heaviest.

Book this between phases of a build, not at the end. It is site clearance, not a finish clean.
