Before you book office cleaning

What office cleaning includes

  • Desk surfaces and phone handsets wiped, keyboards and screens left alone
  • Break room counters, the sink, the microwave and the fridge fronts
  • Restrooms cleaned, and the paper, soap and liners put back out
  • Desk bins and recycling emptied, and the bags taken outside
  • Carpet vacuumed along the walkways, hard floors swept and mopped
  • Conference room reset: table wiped down, chairs pushed back in

What is usually not included

  • Buying the supplies. Paper, soap and liners are usually bought by the office, and the cleaner puts them out.
  • Dishes left in the sink and old food in the break room fridge. Both are usually left to the staff.
  • Carpet shampooing, and stripping and waxing hard floors. That runs on its own schedule and is quoted apart from the regular visit.

What makes office cleaning cost more

  • How many nights a week someone comes in, and whether weekends are in it
  • The number of restrooms. Each one is a full stop on the route, not a wipe on the way past
  • How many desks are packed onto the floor. The vacuum has to get around every chair
  • Whether the break room gets used for lunch every day or is just a coffee counter

How long it takes

The visit normally happens after the last person has left for the day. An office cleaned several nights a week gets a shorter visit each night than the same office cleaned once a week: the trash and the restrooms are usually on every visit either way.

When to book office cleaning

Book this for a workplace on a regular contract, usually outside working hours. Frequency and hours are agreed with the cleaner directly.

What to ask before booking office cleaning

  • Do we buy the paper towels and the toilet paper, or do you bring them?
  • What do you do with a desk covered in paper? Do you wipe around it or skip it?
  • Is the carpet cleaning part of this, or is that a separate job later on?
