Cleaning a home in Barton Creek
Barton Creek is hill country just west of Austin: limestone slopes, live oak and cedar, houses set well back on wooded lots. A lot of them are built tall and open, with two-story rooms, fans hung high and windows sized for the view out over the hills. Cooling season starts early and hangs on into fall, so the system runs far more hours of the year than the windows are open.
Months of cooling leave return grilles, fan blades and the tops of door frames with a fuzz that only shows in side light, and reaching them takes a ladder rather than a pole duster. Filters get looked at, because a loaded one pushes dust back into the room. Big panes facing the hills show every missed corner, so the glass gets done inside and out wherever it can be reached.
