Cleaning a home in Pflugerville
Pflugerville was farm country before it was subdivisions, and the prairie is still there between them. Fields of tall grass and weeds sit at the end of a lot of streets. Grass grows here from March into November, so somebody is mowing nearly nine months of the year, and late summer into fall the ragweed and grass seed come up off those open fields on the wind.
Cut grass gets carried inside on shoes and socks and turns up in carpet, on stair treads and along the base of the kitchen island. Screens and porch rails collect a green-gray film through the fall that has to be rinsed off, not brushed. Indoors it settles on top of the refrigerator and the range hood, and it keeps coming back down after it is wiped.
